The Ford Maverick is coming June 8th

'450 can come wide frame or narrow frame, dually bed is optional. They just added that option a few years ago.

Ground clearance = snow clearance for those that live in northern climates and don't care about offroading too.

That as well.

For well over a decade subaru had great success marketing the outback at people both like that and those who wanted to get a little further off road than they could in a "regular" car.

The outback during that time frame was the same exact car as the legacy, only with bigger tires, taller struts, and spacers between subframes & the car body to lift it a couple inches.

In NJ we have special beaches that you can buy a drive on pass. You need a 4x4 and special equipment to get the pass. People with Subarus and general AWD vehicles constantly get pissed cause they are refused access...

They still try... There is always at least one Subaru or hondo crv sitting at the entrance to the beach dead in the sand. No one helps them. We just drive by and laugh. Anyone with a real pass who gets stuck though, the whole beach is there to help. Awd does not work in sand.... At all... Ever...

Because increasing ground clearance isn't the same thing as making it longer/wider?
I'm just saying that " this" truck isn't for that lifestyle. That's what the Rangers is for. These trucks are for people who need a truck, but do not need a lifted 4×4 ( city stuff ). Ford will probably build an FX4 maverick and people will buy them. I'm with @Dirtman on that it waters or weakens the "FX4" brand, to put it on an AWD, when they could simply call it something else. "AX4" "AF4" "XWD" almost anything else.

450 is the cutoff for the bed i think. The 450 comes cab/chassis but a 350 dually bed fits with a goofy spacer. We had a quad cab dually f450 with a bed and a fifth wheel for our tow vehicle and the bed was never made to be there. It had a special spacer between the cab and bed from ford. The f550 of the same thing had zero way to use a pickup bed. The frame was different. @snoranger would know about this. We needed a pickup bed so got the 450. It was a 2014 so maybe it changed. 550 had different engines too, 450 was still regular powerstroke 6.7. I think the 550 was like serious real diesels, not that the 6.7 couldn't hold its own. We towed nearly 20k with that truck and it did not care.

7.3 can't touch what the 6.7 does.
We don’t deal with f450s. We either buy f250s or F550s for the past 4 years. If the department wants a pickup, they get a 250. If they want a utility body, they get a 550.
We have a few F750s with the 6.7L... but those are 6 yard dump trucks.

FX4 is already pretty weak. Just a skidplate, sticker, tires and shock package with a display on the dash. It is about a grand on any other truck.

Easy to apply the same things to the Maverick, it is hard for it to water down the package when it is the same things everything else can get.

I just threw up in the field across the street. Come pick me up. I'm in corn? It's tall like not grapes. Corn? Help.

Corn is like 8-9” tall... you should be able to find your way out.

Even the corn plants are only about a foot tall these days...

Not liking the appearance at all. I was kind of hoping that it would be more of an El Camino, or Ranchero look. I could be interested in something like that.

My corn is only about 2-3 inches right now.
The maverick is ok but not a fan of it being a crew cab. It does have some potential, I like how you can reach over the bed sides, cant do that with many new trucks anymore. There probably is some sort of clutch to the back axle like the escape has, I know if Im changing tires I can feel slippage as I tighten the lug nuts if one of the back tires is off the ground, can see the driveshaft move so its nothing in the differential. Wonder if the rims are the standard 5 on 4-1/2 that weve been used to on pre-2019 rangers (and most trailers). It would be neat if the back of the cab would fold in for more bed length, like chevy did with the avalanche. Wish they could of found a different name, Im old enough to remember “maverick “ as a car, mom had the mercury equivalent- “comet”, a ‘77 with a 302. pretty basic but wow- what a hot-rod. My mom had the oil light come on once, had oil in the trunk so she stopped and tried adding oil. She couldnt get the cap off, but it turns out she was trying to remove the vacuum motor off the air cleaner snout. (which is pop-rivited to the air cleaner snout) I was 10 at the time and had to show her where it went.
