The dumbest tools you "own".

These - I have several. I've never used one for anything, and can barely imagine anything it would be useful for:

I have these things in slotted, Phillip's, hex, torx, and safety torx. They are incroedibly handy working on interiors where you have a screw in a space barely big enough to pull it out before it hits something. I have a little flat bit driver ratchet that works too but for some reason I usually grab these things first.

Interesting, as I’ve done a lot of interior work and never needed one. I also have a ratchet straight blade that works ok, but I have not used it much either.

Those are an absolute necessity when your replacing the burners on a ProPatch pothole patcher.

What the hell is a pot hole patcher.... You can't patch a pot hole...

That’s a pothole patcher. It’s a large heated hopper filled with asphalt. There’s an auger in it to push the asphalt out of the back onto a chute to direct it into the pothole.

Does NJ DOT know these things exist!?!?!?!

PA doesn’t. They still use a small dump truck, a transfer or coal shovel, and a small roller if we are lucky. Most times, the just run the truck over the patched hole a couple times and call it good.

We’ve got 4 of them in our fleet... and we’re just a county. You would thing the state would have more of them then us.

Well, if it needs one of those offset screw drivers then maybe the state should pass!

It's a very temporary fix.
They use cold patch in them... that’s usually good though the winter until the asphalt plants open back up. Today was the last day of the season for the local plant.

Around here a guy comes out with a bucket, shovels crap into the hole and drives off, it's back to being a hole again in 2-3 days... repeat for 30 years.

See also Iowa...
