The Dana 35 Sucks Too

Should I fix my 35 or just build the 44 and do the SAS sooner?

I only got 2 miles down the road, after putting my "Chicks Dig Body Damage" sticker on.

that is f'ing halrious, i'm sorry, it sucks, but that is too funny.

About the hood shutting. Hoods mount in THREE places, all three should be adjustable. My RF fender is tweaked, and the hood alignment is fairly 'custom'. Just loosen and jiggle until happy, um, I mean closed.

I am a big fan of the 2 vehicle approach. A cheap(er) on gas DD, and a dedicated, abuse riddled, trail rash infected, body damaged, 4x4 rig. So, buy a civic or some other rainbow car (whatever, i drove a 'firefly' for a summer, it was wayyy more fun than anticipated) and put the ranger on jack stands.

So I found out tonight after talkin to my jamaican guy, who does awesome bodywork out of his garage. My frame is gunna get straightened for $250 and a 30 case.

a frame guy and a body guy is completely different, unless he has all the proper equipment i wouldnt let him near the truck

OK I have a question. I have a Jeep Cherokee with a D35 in the rear, D30 front. All the Jeep guys tell me that the D35 is crap, I need D44's at least. But the Ranger guys say the D35 is a good diff. Who is right? Although I have yet to break anything while off road, I am confused now as to whether or not to get a locker for the 35 or get an 8.8 from an Explorer and do the swap. Enlighten me please.

Application. It has a hard time standing up to the demands of being a rear diff. But it does alright as a front one.

Big difference between the stress a front and rear sees. The Jeep D35 is way underbuilt for a rear diff, and that's all Jeep guys know about. The front D35 is way overbuilt for a front diff, and they're all high pinion as well. The D35 is a lot better than the little D30s they're all running, unless they've sunk A LOT of money into them.

UPDATE: Fixed my D35

So I go it fixed to get me through till the D44 goes in.

HUGE THANKS TO AllanD. He is the man for parts.:icon_thumby:

Turns out I just blew the spiders out of it, and the seals went bad cause even though I just changed the fluid in it, it was filled with mud.

**On a previous note: I straightened my frame. All my panels line up better than before, and when I did my alignment only the toe was out, by a mere 4deg.:icon_thumby:
