Ok, the cup holders in my Ranger suck! LOL They are the ones in the center by the seats, right in front of the shift lever. Its a center console you get with the high back bucket seats. Anyway, anything taller than a coke can gets in the way of shifting. (and as an added bonus tips over!) I was thinking about getting a shift boot with the cup holders on either side. Any of you guys have that? Whats it like to use in the real world? Thanks. :D

i have both. my center console does the same thing you mentioned.

the ones down by the shift boot are not tall enough, so while a short squat travel mug is OK, a tall bottle of coke will tip over when rounding a corner.

To be honest, the shifter cupholders suck too... damn near impossible to put something back in at night. And not because I wasn't used to it, that was still happening to me after 50k miles I put on my 97. I cant count how many drinks i dumped because of those stupid cupholders. Also, they are very shallow, forcing me to have to hold the drinks in place around corners. If I decided to risk it, the side of my leg paid for it every time. If i had to guess, the best bet would be an Explorer full console. I happen to have a brand new prarrie tan one, but my 93s interior is gray :(

I've dumped many a cup of coffee in mine with 2 different styles of console cup holders. Although I do get a really neat flip with my travel cup shifting to 4th. Always lands on the passanger side floor. I looked at the shifter console version and came to the same conclusion as Veefer and Sooperxtool.
Truck came with the single, but I currently have the side by side console style. I am going to cut out the bottom of one side, since that is all I use, and see how that works out. The other side is more a storage cubby. I figure as long as I only put tall containers like a 20 oz bottleor my 24oz paper coffee cup in it, it should work?

Just change the color of the console real quick, my interior was whorehouse red and now its black and charcole gray.

I put one of those in my Ranger a few years ago and it works pretty good...except I have to use the passenger side for my drink cup because the one on the driver side is too far under the steering wheel for me to reach...and my right leg also gets in the way...does that make my vehicle a "Cross Over"?

I've never had a cup fall out of it, but quite often if I leave the flip top open on take out coffee it will spill even at low speeds...so I purchased a travel mug years ago that manages to contain that...just a pita to use in the winter if I happen to forget to dump it out the night before...I think I invented Ice Coffee...but didn't realize it would catch on!

I know that stuff works pretty well from what I have seen, but I think I'm just going to deal with my 93 console. I don't think the explorer console would look quite right with the blocky interior. I'll probably just sell it...
