the brumby build

Narrow isn't a bad thing necessarily. I've been on a few trails out here where fullsize width would have made the trail much more difficult or even un-passable. I'm having a hard time myself deciding that when I upgrade axles if I'm going to go full width or not.

funny you mention this..

actually i'm still on a d28... but soon going d35 with 44 outters, cut and turned, and three inches wider.

i do like the wider stance of a full width, but i like my turning radius more.

i got the prerunner fenders a bit early but they were a great deal from a friend 88projectford.

love your avatar pic maverick!

my boxer just turned 2yrs old

Why would it be anything less?

When I put the D44 outers on mine, I had to put longer bolts in for the steering stops, just so i could stop the tires from rubbing the rad arms. Now with 35's they rub again. My turning radius is killer.

The turning radius of any TTB setup will blow the doors off any solid axle out there. The only way they can compete is to have rear steer. Even then it's questionable.

If your going to get the D35 cut and turned then get them to graft the D44 C's onto the D35 beams. This will make the knuckle mounting a no brainer.

ya i thought about the steering after i typed it. but oh well. and yes i think the 44 C's are grafted in. the bushings are also hiems now. next thing is finding a set of axles for it.

Thanks man! My first Boxer, they're awesome dogs. She's 9 months in that pic.

my girlie would kill for a fawn boxer. picked up a two month old husky last month tho... amazingly smart puppy

Nice flexy rig.

How does it handle with the new steering setup compared to what you had on there before?

And, are your coil buckets modified any?

love the new steering. still need to get it aligned, but i'm waiting for my new BFG's to do that. the setup before was stock with a RC 4in drop pitman. horrible, and was undrivable with my flexy jeep coils

my lower coil buckets are done as per the write up in tech, using 1.5in NPT plumbing stuff. upper coil buckets wre a bit more tricky, i used cardboard to make a flat template to weld to the bottom of the stock coil bucket, and made sure there was a divit for the end of the winding of the coil to fit in. still need to make a coil spring retainer.

now i have a new project. tho this one will be more drawn out then my past projects. i picked up a set of cut and turned beams. they are 35's with 44 outters. the price was unbelievable, so i grabbed them without knowing much about what my next step is. heres the specs

35 beams
45 outters, ( welded or reamed idk?)
cut and turned for 4in lift
3in wider PER side
hiem joints for both pivots (haven't measured them yet)
fully boxed PS beam
partially boxed DS beam

let me know what ya think. and what you would change. i'm thinking of fully boxing the DS beam, maybe adding a gusset up front, tho its not a prerunner, just a crawler/DD.

I also plan to open the PS window up more, and i'm looking for a 35 pumpkin with 3.73's in it. then i need to figure out what to do for axle's, brakes, hubs coils or coilovers, shocks, and radius arms

a guy i know was getting outta the business (he built camera rigs for high speed video's and stuff)

you'd choke if i told you the price
