the brumby build

oh now a line lock is an idea?!?!?!

but i think i'll pick up some small diameter round stock. and use my torch to heat it up. and bend it just like the round stock part of the bracket at the bracket connection. make the new one longer and they will mate up like stock. and still allow me to adjust it like stock.. ya follow?!

Once you heat and bend that rod, make sure that you quench it in oil.

If it air cools, it'll be soft, and if you quench it in water, it'll likely be brittle.

ok guys, i broke my rear brake hose. the one that goes from the frame to the distribution block.

should i have my local auto store build me a longer line than stock? has anyone ran into problems with the stock line being to short for max droop?

i'm running about 12in of droop now. not sure what my total travel is yet, more work needs to be done and that work will give me more droop yet.

rob you best be using grade 8 bolts or im gunna beat some sense into ya when i get up there! lol but i cant tell in the pics if you are. i really recommend it if your not.

btw, that thing better be down by the last weekend of june! im headin up for some campin in the cinders. Im bringin the rzr and few other friends. should be a good ol' party :D

ha. yes those are grade 8 bolts. figured three 1/2in grade eight bolts per body mount is sufficient.. lol.

ended up taking a step back in progress, long story short i had to rebuild all my brake lines, and then had my leaf perch's welded on. but i screwed up and used the measurements on the tech library, forgetting that i used f150 mounts which makes my center to center bolt measurement more like 42in instead of 39. so back to the grinder i go.

and as bad as it is, the little 4 link bug is getting to me. might have to pick up a ranger or b2 here in the next year and build for rocks. 4 link rear, full with 9in, nasty long WB. ect....

SCORE! just bought a skyjacker lift kit for the front for 80 bucks. complete with springs and drop brackets....

i think i'll use the 4in holes on the skyjacker, and run the 6in coils. next question is what to do with the steering... idea's? and i'd rather fab something that buy that k setup for 500 bucks. fyi

you lucky dog, thats a steal.

thats the plus side of watching the classifieds on TRS, DR, CL, B2.org, and the paper... all the time!

also picked up some skyjacker extended radius arms with tranny x member. next weekend i hope to have everything installed so i can play

got the 3in flange i needed to mate my 8.8 up to my 86 driveshaft. just need to move the axle back a bit, change my leaf pack setup, and get the ujoint. then i'll be back to 4x4 status!

ohh FYI, i'm selling 4 KC lights in the classifieds here. check them out!

got my ujoint i needed yesterday, also went in and spent some time looking through one of napa's books. found a brake line that i should be able to use to extend my rear brake hose. if it works i'll put the part number on here.

its about 12in long, so it should be enough :)

today i'll reweld my perch's, install rear driveshaft, and move the axle back about two inch's!

wish my luck!

got alot of work done yesterday. met a guy thats traveling across the USA in his 4runner. i got a complete frame off resto by the guy himself. running electric lockers, 35x12.5's about 7in of lift, SAS up front, dual shocks, blah blah blah. i'll have pics soon.

either way, he helped kick me in the ass last nite and get things done!

ujoint was installed, (come to find out my driveshaft was a explorer shaft with a 2.5 bolt flange. now its back to the 3in)

rear axle was moved back about 2.5 in's. looks a bit outta place, but i need to get out the sawsall for that. brake lines were installed, and im awaiting a 12in brake hose extension from napa. then it will be ready for full droop. i'm so excited now that i'm 4x4 again! hopefully i can go play, but the TFI is worrying me. pics to come!
