The Mazda B-Series bonnet truck was introduced in Japan in August 1961 as the B1500.

Haven't found any mention of the meaning of the B in the Mazda trucks, all I know is I really miss my 89 Mazda B-2600i 4x4 pickup.

In the 1970's Madaz(JAP,AUS) AKA Mazda(US) also used was the chassis code beside the cid The "B" Stand for 4-Barrel, The "R" Stand for Rotary, The "I" Fuel Injection and "P" Stand for Petrol (Diesel)now days it also may mean Mazda Bravo or Truck.(JAP,AUS) any way I hope this answers any Questions
