The autumn years of the ICE should be the golden years for the ICE.

and batteries 100% need charging. i see you use the tesla platform alot but if you look at the majority of electric cars on the road, its not tesla.

toyota said the prius are made to be throw away cars that you change every 7ish years. batteries are 1500-2k and you take the interior of the car out and the floor is the battery. its probably not horribly long to do if you have done it once or twice but i figured it would take me a week doing it in the driveway. i have looked at them a lot since my sister has had three of them.

i am not against electric cars. i am just against forcing the crap on people, like the vid shot. what a bunch of shit that was. get a shot or lose your job. just like california, get rid of your gas powered small engines or get fined. tons of people are going to lose their jobs and cali is giving 700 bucks to help replace the gas mowers for companies. thats nice but a zero turn mower is not 700 bucks, and especially in battery powered version. the articles i read said the new mowers are more like 7k and thats not even including replacing the weed eaters and chainsaws. and you ahve to have a pile of spare batteries.

what a crock. what needs to happen is a bunch of politicians need to be hung out front from the tree and government needs to be run for a term at a time unpaid, like in the old days. you get people in who want to help, not who want to get paid on the side by companies who need the laws changed for them.

sorry guys. i hate big gov and forcing crap on people.
The entire California small engine ban is about generators.

Change my mind.

you are probably right but i just read the articles about the lawn businesses and stuff like that. i didn't even think about home generators and stuff related to that type of thing because i would throw that ban out the window when the power went off

The ban is small engines under 25hp (or something like that).... can you say 30hp weedwacker??:devilish:

The battery is covered by the hybrid/EV extended warranty and swapping it would be giving up coverage. Plus, it ain't like plugging a new battery into your drill, the battery in a hybrid Escape occupied the entire rear cargo floor and we had to use the engine crane to lift them out- while wearing heavy rubber gloves under leather gloves. At 2016 warranty rates, the battery was $14,000+ and a Tesla battery was quoted at $22,600. So you pull into the rest area, unload all your cargo, lift it out with a crane you had to rent(most likely), avoid getting electrocuted when reinstalling and initializing it, and then reload everything- before hitting your credit card for 5 figures. Nope, It would compare to swapping a transmission at the rest area- if a transmission could electrocute you.

That is a battery pack. I can buy that for 100 bux....and reconfigure it and 5 more like it to run my house ....and my cars.....via solar for about 20 grand.

Working on and rebuilding the battery packs...whether Tesla or big 3 for those willing to make the efforts are cost effectively taking people off the grid....RIGHT NOW.....AND the past 6 years that I know of.

Gas will go to 7.50 a gallon in a flash....

So for those that think it's inconvenient to plug in your general conveyance for your majority needs ..we will see.

Fact is the average commuter whom can easily adjust to existing technology when faced with 7 to 10 dollar a gallon gasoline...even at only 8 thousand miles per year is going to....

..boy I can't wait to see those threads. Commuting daily with a big block over an Ecoboost WONT BE A THING.

BUT HYBRIDS WILL.

you are probably right but its not happening today.

but they did say gas was going to 4 bucks a gallon soon so that will help some people start moving now.

I have seen small block Chevys on chainsaws for competitions. Talk about heavy equipment! I wanna put my old 5.0 on my Honda pushmower and see how Cali. likes that. So there!

those engine swapped lawn tractors are awesome. i need one that still cuts grass though because my 20 year old honda powered mower is starting to need more regular work than i like

I drove over 5 k miles in a long 8 days last week.

I paid over 5 dollars a gallon for two 44 gallon fills.....and I was not in California.

If Rusty pulls up to a pump in his big block truck tomorrow morning....and 14 more days beyond that ... At just 5 dollars per gallon...

It's going to make for some entertainment.

So ..
When your in the market for your next commuter... Choose wisely.

The cost increases coming from this are padded about another year. Food is going to get ridiculously expensive and it's already built into next cycle.

Store your nuts

My next commuter is a panther car.

I dont care if i have to pay 10 a gallon. I WILL NOT own a power wheel.

Besides....gas is 3.39 now. Figure even in the 460 if i fill both tanks its roughly a 30 gal fillup. (38 gal total cap)....at 1.50 more a gallon its an extra what...40 bucks?

When youre already paying 100 or so at these prices whats another 40?

Ranger is usually 10-11 gal weekly, that an extra 16 a week. Ill just forego buying lunch for a day.

I highly, highly doubt we'll see 10/gal gas anytime soon. The whole economy will crash.

The real world runs on oil. They'll be literal riots.

I did not say it would be 10. But it will be.

But for revenue purposes and to save the planet.....get used to 5....then 7.

It's called incentive

The boomer haters....raised by the current crop of education, do not travel like we do. They do not see the freedom of personal conveyance like we do..... They will adapt and adopt the new tech.... And they are doing that right now .... At least they are learning to ride bikes again.

This minute......this is happening.....and the big 3 are sucking up to the federal government and leading the charge ...

These kids right now....

Won't give a flying fat rats ass about 10 dollar a gallon gas for old boomers like rusty and bobby to drive thier POS broncos and panthers around ... That's the tax we deserve for ruining the planet ...

And now they ride e bikes and drive e cars that when on fuel get 100 mpg anyway...

the way to free health care and student loan relief being 10 dollar gas and reported milage from e car for tax....

They will eat that up.

It's 5 dollars where the majority of the populations beef and grain come from....right now.

No reason for that.

The new raw deal .... It's coming

Eh. I think it depends on whos in washington. Plus...those kids will grow up...and change their thinking

Remember, todays boomers were yesterdays hippies

No.....hell no.

Today's boomers were yesterday's gen x and millennials...

You think you have to give up one lunch...

It's three to five lunches because that cost is in everything...unless your full solar by then....

And... Uhhhh.... The food hit will be before the fuel hit.

It's happening now. Just compare the last 5 years
