The autumn years of the ICE should be the golden years for the ICE.

Nobody born after 1990 can, or will ever be able to afford a house, let alone a six figure memewagen. So, forget young people buying even the base model. Not happening at $15/hr.

My oldest son was born in december of 1999. in 2019, he bought his grandpa's 1968 Camaro that he helped restore when he was 11 or 12 for $20k. the car appraised at over 40k. in April of last year, he bought his first house. it is small, but very nice inside and out, and he got it for 85k.

He works at a big box home improvement as an hourly manager, makes about 15 an hour. so yeah, if you live in an area where it does not cost an arm and a leg, make good financial choices you can get your own place.

but I agree wholeheartedly with the rest of your post.

And remember Rusty....we are closer in thought.

I drive a gen 1 ranger with a mechanical diesel...

No.....hell no.

Today's boomers were yesterday's gen x and millennials...

You think you have to give up one lunch...

It's three to five lunches because that cost is in everything...unless your full solar by then....

And... Uhhhh.... The food hit will be before the fuel hit.

It's happening now. Just compare the last 5 years
Thats because we went from america first to....whatever the hell this is.

Its 2008 all over again. Things will calm back down. I believe that.

I agree ... The low zoomers are based.

At least I am praying like hell it goes that way before full AMERIZUEALA....

it will calm down, but not near where it was when it ramped up. it wil go a few years or another presidential election cycle and then it will ramp up again even more than it was earlier... lather, rinse, repeat until the the latest calm down is at the level of earlier ramp ups.

Good thing is though....if society broke down into a walking dead type scenario (minus the zombies) guys like me and you would thrive.

If reducing carbon emissions is the goal, there a lot they can do without replacing millions of vehicles with electric ones that we don't have the power grid to charge. And politicians would be startled to hear that there are people who work for a living and can't afford a new car- especially a Fusion/Camry sized Tesla for twice the price. Eliminate private jets- John Kerry, Biden's "climate czar" owns a fleet of them and flew one to Obama's birthday party. Eliminate the floating petri dishes that are cruise ships. Remove the ethanol from our gas, it takes more oil to produce it than it replaces and it lowers mpg because the same volume of ethanol has fewer BTUs of energy. Eliminate 12 minute joyrides to space for no scientific reason- each trip produced more carbon emissions that the crew would have in a year.

A college did a study on the effect of temperature on range. The advertised range is calculated at 70 degrees, dropping to 40 degrees reduced the range by 24%. We've been around -15 for a couple of weeks, what would that do to the range? Then subtract more for the power used by the lights, wipers, heater, and traffic tie ups during snow storms. We'll get to electric vehicles but it won't be quick, cheap, or easy.
Don't rule out $10 gas too quickly, in 1970 I could buy 10 gallons of 100+ octane premium for $4 and a cheap new car(if I'd had any money) for about $2000, the dollars are getting smaller. On top of that, the oil and gas producers have been squeezed for the last year to the point that we went from a net oil exporter to an importer. Depending on other countries for our energy is a terrible idea, I worked at a gas station during the 1973 oil embargo, the countries in OPEC are not our friends.

Basically it comes down to the very valid statement: "don't shit where you eat", it really IS just COMMON SENSE

Now we all have to pay the price to clean up the "shit", whether that's in the form of stupid high gas prices or EVs
We all did the shitting, especially North America, so we all need to clean

And no deflecting, "well look at so and so, they really shit alot", so what, when you clean up YOUR SHIT completely, then you can look at "so and so's" shit

2006 emissions were about as clean as we need to be ....

Define squeezed. Do you mean artificial throttling by the government? That's at least fixable.

There is no guessing about battery technology in winter. It's tested everyday by real people doing real things in their east California lives.....formally known as colorado. There were dozens of Rivians and Tesla's on Ike last week....and every week from one end to the other....

One thing for sure. You ain't towing shit during Winter with standard range.

TFL tests regularly....they seem to do good work.

One EMP strike and we're pilgrims again.... except for the pre-HEI ignitions.

EMP(Electromagnetic Pulse) strikes disabling car computers is a Myth, the studies done on this placed it at MAYBE 1 in 50, and it depended on the wiring and materials in the vehicles, assuming all vehicles were same distance from EMP
It wouldn't effect any vehicle computer that were farther away, running or not

EMPs can disable power grids because they are exposed, and can act as giant antennas to send EMP to homes and offices
These act similar to lightning strikes, so unplug it and its safer

There were a few companies trying to get police a way to stop a vehicle via an RF pulse, not sure if any got them to work
Might be able to overload the coil, which would work on any spark plug engine regardless of year
I know attacking the electronics is the popular theory, but more suited to handheald and home/office electrionics, vehicle electronics is much simpler and surrounded by metal, a Faraday cage

We need negative emissions to clean up the shit, breaking even just means the shit pile don't get bigger
And that ain't no way to run a whore house :)

When it rains.....all that shit will go away.

Probably need a little bead blasting(hail) and then the rain to get that "shit" off
