Thanks for voting! You did vote right?

just got back from voting on my school campus...no longer a voting virgin:headbang:

My first time voting as well... I did last week though, through absentee.

Voted in the primaries earlier this year and then this was my first presidential election to vote in. Went about 8:00 and there was hardly a line. Was in and out in about 10 minutes.

Voting is a civic duty. If you enjoy the fruits and labor of a free nation, and honor those who have died to keep it that way, voting is your duty to insure the same for the next generations as the prior generation did for you.

Being a "proud non-voter" is not good. How can you be "proud" of not doing your civic duty?

Everyone speaks of the government as being some foreign entity. The government is US, all of us. Being proud of your country is fine, but you have to insure you still have a country for the pride to have any meaning. If you don't like those serving in government, there is only one way to change it...voting.

I think you are smarter than this, and as you grow older and mature, you will see the folly of your ways.:)shady

It is a Democracy (republic) it won't stay that way if you don't exercise your civic DUTY to vote. With this one I 100% agree with shady. Get involved. It's your money (taxes) you have a say in how it's spent. VOTE!!!

I did exercise my civic duty already. I voted (twice) j/k. I did vote. I've voted in every election since 1986 except one. That was a gubernatorial election and we got jessie ventura. I won't make that mistake again.

You mean 1996?

I could have swore Jesse Venture was elected when I could remember.

Did he win in '88 and then lose and then get re-elected? Everything I have Googled says he won in '98 in the Reform Party.

He's not saying Ventura ran in '86, he's saying the only election since '86 that he didn't vote in was when Ventura ran.

ah, I miss understood

You mean you didn't like Jesse!!!! I personally loved being able to say "our governor can beat up your governor", JK. I voted for my first time today on campus.

Just remembered I was wearing my TRS shirt while voting today, forgot about that.
