My credo
If you ain't first you're last
I have decided that I am going to let my engine die as I hear knocking in it and I'm tired of always screwing with this dumb motor. I instead will be after it says it's done will put a 5.0l from a mustang! I'm taking the mustangs for its manual trans. Don't want the explorers auto. And I wanna put an f150s transfer case to make it a Manual t case, again no explorer AWD bull crap. I want 4x4, with low and high! From the explorer I will take the axle in the back, one with 4.10s. Then I will take a jeeps dana 30 front axle. Have a straight axle beast, with 4.10s and 35x12.5r15s and call it a day.

What kind of issues might I run into on this major swap? Obviously new brake master for the rear drums (explorer master?). New clutch and all that good junk, just take the mustangs and can I keep my slave cylinder, or do I need the mustangs? What about issues with getting the dana 30 in? Should I do a dana 44 instead and a ford 9" off a bronco in back? 4.10 or 4.56 I'll definitely be doing 35s. What kind of lift kit? I want coils up front for sure. How can I make this one be carbureted? New fuel pump and intake manifold I assume? I really don't want any computer BS basically. I just want a mechanical running engine, with a distributor, ignition coil, four barrel carb, just basically 0 computer.. Anything you can think of that I need?

Thank you very much all help is greatly appreciated!
Also last note should I stick with the dana 35 and go explorer 8.8 in the back for a little bit? I'm not doing so good on the budget so If this would be cheaper id do it. And stick with smaller tires for a little, but big picture I wanna do all that other stuff.. And emmisions wise will I pass with a catalytic converter? Or will I fail without a computer?

And can anyone tell me also what the cheapest method is to swap a 5.0 in, least amount of parts changes and common junkyard prices.. Just for the meantime.. I can't part with my ranger, so I must upgrade it instead! But the full upgrade will come later..

This has been answered enough times. There are so many different does to take, from leaves to coils, and it depends which sovereign you actually end up getting. What about a 5.0 to tcase from a 90s f150? There are plenty of write-ups on here.

Just my opinion, do one thing at a time. Its pretty involved to replace your whole suspension/axles and then to replace the drivetrain.

If this is your daily driver its not going to work.

The Mustang manual tratransmission will not work. You can't bolt up a transfercase behind one unless you want to run it divorced.

If your looking for a m5od for a 302 good luck. I've been searching craigslist for a couple months and have only found 1. Unless you want to pay $800 at a junkyard for one.

Just last week there was a running driving 1995 f150 on craigslist with a 302, 5spd, and 4wd for $800.
You are better off buying a running driving truck for all the parts.

Have you decided carb or efi?

Well if somehow I could get an m50d tranny will an 4406 tcase bolt up? Or should I just go 4.0l with a 5spd and electronic t case from that ranger.. I really want a 302, 5 speed, 4x4 with the explorer 8.8 just to get me going (keep the d35 up front) but if that's unrealistic then I don't know.. Do they have An adapter to run the 4.0 5 spd behind a 302 or will that blow up the tranny?

I just really hate automatics is all I'm saying and I can't part with the ranger!! It's my baby
