thank you advanced auto

I just replaced the harness and switch in my friends 95 ram. Cost him about 100 bucks for both and 30 minutes to change. The dealer said they dont know caused it to fry. If you take the switch off, I willing to bet that the plastic part of the harness is a melted to the switch clip. The lows went out, then the highs go. Some of the metal prongs were rusted, which may have been the cause?(water)....

its a known issue on the dodges, my friend has had a couple go up in smoke

it was advanced auto. It was the 9004 and 9007 bulb, and were brand new. I needed the 04 and they told me to use the 07 ones. The mechanic said that it was the bulbs that caused the short it took him a while to figure it out. He had the entire dash and wiring harness apart. It was ok with the high beams but with the low beams on it fried the switch and the wiring. Myself and my dad have bought our trucks off the dealership, and have had work done there a few times. They cut me a break on the labor hours for my truck.
If you put a 9007 where a 9004 went, or vice versa, you really hamfisted them in. You should have immediately notice the locator notches were wrong.
