testing a slave?

Cuzzin of mine gave me a clutch. Pressure plate. Slave and a m5od for my 4.0 swap. Is there a way I can test or rebuild the slave. He said it worked about a year ago.

I would not reuse the slave that your cousin gave you. For the price of a new unit vs the trouble of pulling the trans it just isn't worth it.

Also, once reused they usually last for a few weeks before breaking, so you might be able to bench test it today and it shows good, but you get it in, get down the road, bam it dies.


If you really want to test it I guess I would stick it in a vice and hook up the master, see if it will generate and hold pressure.
