Tensioner/pulley noises?

I've noticed a "rattling bearing" kind of sound, along with a "chirping" sound coming from the pulley area in the engine bay; It comes and goes, but really picks up when I accelerate.
Is this the tensioner going out or a pulley?
And are 4.0l's known for this issue?

I also notice the (what I think is) water pump and crank pulley seem to kind of wobble just a little bit as well. Is this bad?

Thanks all

All of the above.

Well, as you have accurately guessed, it could be any one of those. Except the come and go chirping noise. That makes me guess it's the idler or the water pump. The first is easy to check, the second should be leaking water soon.

Just take the serpentine belt off and twirl them with your hand - if they are not free spinning - you have a problem. You could have more than one.

Idler is cheap , tensioner $50 - $80, Alternator water pump $80- $150 , Air conditioning - forget aboutit

is there a diagram of where the pump is, ie. each pulley's function in the chain?
thanks again

Go by your local Auto supply and pick up a manual for your truck - get the right year model. Basically, the big pully on the bottom is your crank shaft, just above it is the water pump, just above that, the shiny, one is an idler. on the left is an alternator, below that is a tensioner pulley, on the right is the ac and below and outboard of that is the power steering. This assumes you are in the Universal What the Heck Happened position standing facing the front of your truck. Models vary . . .
