Temu LS engine rebuild

Reliability/longevity will be the true test next.
Agreed.
I've followed along with "most" of this build. The quality of the temu parts are on par with or better than OE. The motor is in a square body S-10 and they're just waiting to see how long it lasts

Some things that I have been seeing on aliexpress (and heard on Temu) is stuff that "ships from USA" is actually basically like amazon marketplace - any idiot can get a listing, so reputable and disreputable domestic (USA) machine shops have started listing on Temu/Aliexpress to get more business.... Might very well be from a highly regarded US professional engine rebuilder, might be a motor pulled from a junkyard, not rebuilt at all, and pawned off through TEMU

I watched the whole process on TikTok. He got a junkyard motor, then got a 2nd motor in better shape off FBmarket, then ordered the rebuild kit and associated parts from Temu. Headers, gaskets, cam, rockers, waterpump, and a lot of other parts. Some parts were swapped from the "bad" motor onto the FBmarket motorto save costs.
with that being said, it's a crapshoot, either from Amazon or TEMU, wether you get good parts or not. For a budget build, this aint too bad.

Do they do a price comparison for what it would be to buy all the same/ similar parts straight from a U.S. supplier?

Like calling up the LS equivalent of Tom Morana and ordering them from him?

Not Really. The guy has several built LS engines in other vehicles, so he kinda "knows" how much it costs to build one. He claims he only spent $700 on TEMU parts plus the $500 for the junkyard LS. so for less than $1,500 ( his claim, not mine) he has a running LS.

Following this build on TIKTOK was more entertaining than this YT video. He ran Dollar General oil for the intial start up. The whole point was a "budgetr build" so some parts like the plug/coil wires were "free/donated", and he made sure to mention what parts were, free and/or pulled from the "spare' motor

Update: the LS is in an S-10, he's doing a "budget Cyclone" clone build. Hes looking for a 3rd pedal and a dash board at the moment
