Hi, Anyone know if there was more than one size of temp' sender used? I ordered one (and some other stuff which was fine) fom Rockauto. The one they supplied is about twice the size of the one I removed. The sender supplied has a thread about fifteen mill' diameter - mine is more like ten. I ask as it's not economical to send it back and I may/may not be able to get one over here - just want to make sure it's a genuine mistake and not a case of several sizes being used. Shipping could get expensive (their prices are great but add in shipping and duties...)!
Anyone know what else the small size sender fits, Mustang maybe? Anyone know if it would be the same as Euro spec' Granada or Scorpio - Halfords (automotive supermarket) can't be arsed to check this sort of stuff.
Just to be clear I refer to the single wire sender that sends the signal to the temp' guage not the ECU. Many thanks, John.

Sorry nearly forgot, it's the truck in the avatar - '88, 2.9V6, 2WD, auto'.

Are you surer it is the sender. Take the wire that plugs into it and touch it to ground with the key on the guage should read hot. Somtimes the connector gets too corroded or loose making the guage not read. For the time being you can always go to the bone yard and grab a couple from any similar year ford and probably be ok until you get a new one.

What's the part number they sent you?

It shows it should be a TS58

"Boneyard" not really an option - I only know of a handful of these over here, there's not exactly a lot of scrappers kicking about, or when you say similar year Ford do you mean any model - hadn't tested the sender as i thought you needed fancy kit (according to the manual) - thanks, shall try that tomorrow too dark now.
Part no. is Wells TU25 - shows as correct for the year on a couple of internet searches...

Just in case anyone is interested - the temp' sender that fits my truck is for a variety of Euro' spec' Fords. Presumably the front casing (or complete engine) has been changed at some point in the past as it is a Euro' Granada item...guess this is why the supplied part didn't fit...Cheers, John.
