Temp Gauge reads same all the time

I noticed just the other day the temp gauge reads the same all the time. When I first start it up it goes right to the place where it would normally be after warming up. Anyone else had this problem. Could it be the sending unit? If so where might I find it on the engine and is there any way to test it to know. Thanks in advance for any help

Ranger oil pressure gauges don't vary with pressure they're basically just on and off switches to show if you've got oil pressure or not.

it was actually for the ECT gauge not the oil pressure. I have actually figured out the problem though.
