I removed the old sender and it deteriorated in my hand. I have bought 4 senders so far. Right now I have a MC dy-1144 in there. I am not convinced it is the right part. I have been to or called 3 dealerships. They all are giving me different part #. Does anyone know how to test the gauge or wiring, etc

Yep, sure do.

First, does the fuel gage and CEL work?
Reason being, they share power from fuse 11.

Next, turn the key to Run and see if that sender wire (Rd/Wh) is getting 12v EDIT: ~5v (see post 4.)

Back to the fuel gage, that temp sender and the fuel gage share ground 101.
G101 is located on the DS of the radiator support. It almost HAS to be good because the PCM, MAF, AC, and RABS share that ground too.

I'd ask that you verify the 12v is on that Rd/Wh wire and report back.

I can e-mail you 2000's schematics. PM me your e-mail address.

The fuel gauge and CEL both work(I am chasing a p0304). @ KOEO volts at red/white wire appears to be 0.00

No other issues besides the misfire.

Sorry I need to update my Sig. It is a 2004 3.0 5 speed.

Ok so I was poking around under the dash......between the ebrake the OBD port is a wiring harness connection.......I noticed a few of the wires were beat up and one red and white wire was not connected to the harness........I stuck it in one of a few available holes.....and the gauge seems to work.....it goes off when the key is off and went to the center of the gauge when the truck was running.the temp was around 190.......I will check when the engine is cold that the gauge goes down......

does anyone have a schematic for my 2004 so I can see if I used the correct hole..........

FYI: I tested the red/white wire at the sender and got 4.9 volts after i connected the loose wire.

I am also wondering if there is any chance the wiring harness could be causing my P0304?.......

You found the correct hole for that wire.
4.9v sounds about right, there is fused 12v, then a 100 ohm resistor (plus the gage windings) in line with that wire to the sender.

I think your misfire is unrelated.

Thanks for the feedback. I also agree about the misfire. I think it is bad head/valves.
