This came out of an'87 stx highrider, 2.9 auto. wondering why ford designed it different than other rangers I own?

It has rubber mounts in the ends as well as the regular trans mount.

Where it attached to the outside of the frame.
Is it fairly common or only on certain trucks?
Thanks, Richard

That is, sadly, the more common crossmember you'll find.

It's sh*tty, to say the very least. I swapped mine out with an "inside the frame rails" crossmember out of a mid 80's ranger.

MUCH BETTER than that one you have pictured.

Oh, O.K. I thought it might be to absorb more vibrations/bumps when offroading, seeing as it came out of a highrider.
Thanks, Richard

yep thats the way my 86 2.0 4x4 b2 was. made my own inside the frame rails. much better.
