Tell me what I should know

So does it sound like a good deal?

I plan on taking pics tomorrow.

sounds just like my truck! bought it last year 79,000 miles 3.0 stick. it had 3.73, which i believe is the most common. and i wasnt sure about the dana 35-28 thing until a couple guys on here helped me out.... mine has a full 35, i took the fill plug out, and if you see a bearing cap, its a hybrid, if you see part of the carrier, its a full 35. takes two seconds, the best 2 seconds of my life!!! i have had no drivetrain problems, or any problems for that matter. but i always go through my trucks when i get them. i did all the u joints, change all the fluids, replaced a ton of maintanace parts. has just enough power to go anywhere, but by no means is a rocket! not by a long shot! but its powering my 33" tires with stock gears right now, and its not too bad(surprisingly) i would definatly buy it again!!!! and thats about the price i paid for mine ($3200 or something?)

really depends on the condition. check the paint for chips/oxydization, check the glass for cracks, check steering components for slop, check for major oil leaks under the truck, listen carefully when you start it for rattles/squeeks from the engine, drive it around the blcok, notice how it starts and stops, get it up to highway speed to check for vibrations at those speeds, operate all the dash/heater controles, check tire tread life and wear pattern.

if the trucks in good shape, it's worth the price (i'd offer 3k, all he can do is talk you back up).

I was told it has aftermarket wheels with BFG tires.

Saweet.

good luck finding BFG's, most are on national back order... its what i had before(great tire)thats what i wanted when i went to 33's, but couldnt get them, so i settled for the dunlops, they are also very good so far!

Last fall I put a set on my F-250 which I am selling. I only put about 3K on them so far, but LOVE every minute of it. We had 20.4" of snow the beginning of March and I never even used 4WD with those tires.

If it already has them on the truck that's great, saves me from wanting to buy them.

Well I went to see it.

It is a true D35, has the ridges in the back of the differential.

The guy was not home so I did not get to drive it.

I plan on going back. His grandpa was there, I started it and it sounded fine. Has some minor dings, and he was wrong it only has 93K on it.

Here are the pics.

He is throwing in the the OEM rims, it has an aftermarket stereo, the center arm rest is crooked, lower on the pass side. He says it needs tightned.

What kinda mileage should I expect with a 3.0L stick?

Is it purple or charcoal?

Looks pretty good, could use some boggers:D

No, because there have been people running V8s and 33s in old D28s and even managing to weld the caps on the joints and having them live pretty well. Any of those people would have jumped on a kit to upgrade to the D35 joints. Breaking those splines isn't common and the swap isn't worth being on the list of upgrades unless it breaks. Whatever D28 parts break aren't hooked to D35 parts so there's no harm in it. I would rather have a winch than the exact same axle with a little bigger pig in it.

I don't know what gears are available. I wouldn't imagine the aftermarket goes very deep with them. Still doesn't mean it's a throw-away like the D28 was. Once you decide to upgrade it's an easy decision to replace it if there aren't any gears for it.

People break 27 spline D35 shafts (hell, I've broken my D44 shafts too), why you would ever want something even smaller is beyond me... :icon_confused:
I guess if you want to pussyfoot it around everywhere... (or plan to keep stock donuts on it)

Although doesn't matter anymore, turned out it has the real thing. :icon_thumby:
I also say go for it. A few have said the 3.0L is the most reliable motor in a RBV, and I've seen nothing myself that really disputes that. The downside is it needs to spin to make any power, so you'll certainly want those gears if the tires on it are any bigger than stock.
Mileage should be in the low-mid 20s (hwy) if it's stock (or geared stock to slightly deeper).

me likey! i like the grey too. the armrest just takes a t50??? torx to tighten it up.

I got my 94 three years ago stock for $5,100. It had 115k on it and was beautifally taken care of by an older man. Id say deffinatly a good looking truck for $3500.

I TOTALLY forgot to check the door tag. The guys grandpa was weirding me out.

Is it normal that when he unlocked the passenger side door with the key, the driverside door popped unlocked too?

I found that odd.

I looked underneath it and there is NO oil on anything. Heather's 3.0 leaks like a siv from somewhere. This one was bone dry.

I will probably take the tires/wheels off and throw a set of walmart tires on the stock rims.

The front tires are ruined. The inside of each tire is worn almost to no tread left. He said he just had an alignment done, and they just need rotated.

I am getting it for mileage. If the tires are bigger than stock they will probably come off. I may even leave the stock Autolockers on there until I break them.

Now, I just have to sell my F-250.
