So i got started on putting my duraspark conversion in and I realized i dont have the engine on TDC. Any idea how i can make that happen? i dont want to take apart the valve cover. :icon_confused:

Look on the crank pulley for the notch for TDC, line it up with the pointer

That is what i had in mind but i cant find the notch. Maybe i have to scrape off more gunk. :dntknw:

I have had to do that before, Lol
Yeah, there should be a notch or at least a line on there, if not, take out the #1 sparkplug, put a long screwdriver in the hole, and turn the motor, By Hand!, and wait untill the crewdriver comes up and back down again, when it is all the way up, thats TDC(or 180 out)

How do i know when its at the compression stroke? or does it not matter?

It will be at either the compression or exhaust stroke, if the truck won't fire at all, it'll be 180 out, or on the exhaust stroke.
So you know the rotor in the distributor is pointing 180 degrees the wrong way.
So you have a 50/50 chance of getting right the first time, if it doesn't fire, you know it's 180 out(if everything else is working correctly:icon_thumby:

Put your finger over the #1 plug hole as you turn the crank. You can feel when it is all the way up - within a couple of degrees.
Tip one is move the wires if you are out of sync; don't keep pulling the distributor. For some reason people think the distributor HAS to be in a certain position and it doesn't - think it through and you will see.

That does make sense, I should be able to feel it compressing. Ok, thanks for the help and i will post some pics once everything is put together...
