So i've put an e-fan on my ranger and wanted to wire it up correctly. I want to run the signal wire to the relay through the fuse box under the dash. Yesterday i bought some ford specific connectors, none of which slid into the fuse box. I'm trying to make use of an open spot in the box, but can't seem to find the connector that fits in the fuse box.

Has anyone done this before? and if so, where did you get the connector? right now i've just got the signal wire spliced into the wiper switch power supply which works fine, but i'd just rather do it the right way. Any input would be great! thanks guys.

i dont want an add a circuit. i want to use an empty spot in the fuse box. i've seen those and i don't like it. the way i have it is allready fused and in my opinion better than that. also, the power isn't going to the fan, just to the relay. it's a signal wire not a power for the fan.

I understand what you're talking about and Ford often doesn't include the clip in the fusebox. If you're happy with what you have, that'll probably be the way to go. The add a fuse is really a good connection. We've used them installing Police equipment and they had to be secure. Some vehicles that came from another agency had th kind with the clips that wrap around a pin on the original fuse to connect to and they are junk. They also stetch the lower fuse contacts and when they're removed, the fuse doesn't connect tight anymore.

thanks for the input. maybe i'll look into it. but it seems ford made adding a circuit in the fuse box really easy, power is there i just need the connector and run my wire. surprising no one else has had any experience with this.

Some of them have only one socket when there's no fuse. Test with a test light and see what you find. In those, we've used a flat wire end on a fuse holder and plugged it into that side.

the spot for a fuse is there. one side has battery voltage with the ignition on. and 0 volts with ignition off. where the other side of the fuse would plug in there is a blank socket with nothing in it. just a hole. like i said, it's pretty straight forward. put a connector in there, run my power plug in a fuse and call it a day.

exactly right just use a flat connector it slides right in and it should stay there i did the same thing but with a relay and ran my own constant power too it. just make sure you use the right size.

same, That wire is going to a relay. the power for the fan im running off battery power with a 30 amp fuse. probably use a 10 for the one in the fuse box. but what is a "flat connector"? could you find me a picture? can i just get it at the local parts house? thank you!

got it. was stumped for a bit then decided to take the plastic off it and it fit. also put a rubber 0-ring on the other side of the wire and snugged it down to the back of the fuse box to keep the connector from trying to fall down. thanks a bunch.

if you just picked up a used fuse box from the wreckers, you'd have lots of the connectors you're looking for.

That's not a bad idea, but then i'd either have to try and spread one open and re-use it or put an extra splice in the line. Either way i think it's good the way it is.

Thanks again for the help guys!
