Tiger vs. T34

Easily the best, and one of the very few, tank simulator games out there. Rare as hell too. The graphics and game play are amazing. You can do everything...

Throughout most of the game you are a lone tiger, but some missions you get a few friendly tanks to help you out. The missions can be pretty long since everything is real time, and you may have to travel several kilometers to get to your waiting point to intercept the enemy. Tigers don't go very fast...

Any shots you make, at just about any distance, require factoring in trajectory and the ballistics of each round. The gun's sights are sighted for standard armor piercing rounds at different ranges. You have to adjust it for high velocity armor piercing because of the flatter trajectory, so it cuts the sight range down 300 to 400 meters. You always have to find the range of the target anyways, it may take a round or two to get on target. But you learn quickly by seeing how big the target is in the telescope, you can guess pretty accurately. HE rounds however, are much harder to use because they are low velocity and they don't trace like armor piercing rounds. But they also serve very little purpose.

Anyways, here's some screen shots of the action I was in yesterday. :icon_thumby:

Ok, I think i've crammed enough pictures on here. This game is awesome, and I hope some of you enjoy the pictures.

I don't usually play the russian campaigns, the t34's are kinda boring. But if anyone wants to see some pics inside a t34, or some tiger killing action, I can do that too. It's a blast...literally...:icon_cheers:

Awesome looking game, mostly HE's are for infantry in the open. Otherwise, the armour piercing should do all the tricks lol.

Is Tiger vs. T34 the name of the game?

I like simulators, I am slightly addicted to Silent Hunter II and III at the moment, you get to command German U-Boats. You can vary the time which is nice, dunno how fast they are compared to Tigers but U-boats don't exactly go very fast either.

I think it was one of the Medal of Honar games you get to drive a Stuart against Panzers. It was fun but I don't think I would pick a Stuart to tangle with a Panzer...

And for clearing forests. Sometimes the enemy hides in a bunch of trees. HE makes quick work of that.:headbang:

Yes it is.

I have all the MOH games, none had a stuart that I remember. It was probably a call of duty or brothers in arms game. And yeah, that little 37mm gun against 75's or 88's....not gonna happen

U-boats probably go faster, but have to cover more ground...or uhh water.

The tiger on the slightest incline bogs down...just like the real one. Under powered, but almost inpenetrable and very powerful. Hard to beat when used as a pillbox. Until allied airpower ruins your day.

I can't keep the MOH or COD games straight... so it is probably something else.

My favorite sub is hard pressed to hit 11-12 kts surfaced and runs about 5 submerged.

Where did you get the game and what system is it for? That looks really good!

It's a PC game only, and I ordered it online. Can't remember where, but it's a few years old. I ordered it last year some time. It was from another country and wasn't released in the U.S. for a while.

Amazon has a whopping 2 coppies. About 40 bucks. I have windows vista on my laptop and it works great, with a rare crash. It's a foreign game, so it's never perfect. I also have a 256mb graphics card, so this game works perfect on the highest graphic settings. I can't say the same for alot of the newer games. Makes me wish I had a bigger card sometimes.

Here's a little T34 action. Didn't have a whole lot of time, so I only played one mission.

And of course, right when I'm about to clean up the remaining enemy flanking them from behind, I get smoked in the road wheels coming out of a forest. Courtesy of a Tiger's 88.

Looks like fun. I take it you are a tank nut?

By the way the game asked about earlier is COD: World at War.

How would you like a head to head match with you in this game and me in Longbow Apache? Nothing like a flight of two Apaches with 32 radar guided, fire and forget Helfire missiles and a full load of 30mm DU rounds to ruin your day on the ground!

Looks like a cool game though. I might have to look into it!

Notice how a Tiger will take out a T34 any day? Left and right?

Seems like when you were doing the T34 mission you were up against lightly armored vehicles, kinda sitting ducks to any decent tank. That first tank being a Panzer IV ? Then smack.......Tiger. At least they got it historically correct.....lol

The Tiger was an awesome advancement in technology.

I'll say that it wasn't unheard of, that 3-5 tigers would do well against 10 times + their number on the eastern front. Distance was the key, that 88 was one accurate piece.

Can you tell I'm a WWII buff?:D

The T-34 was/is a good little tank. With a 76.2mm main gun, it was fairly potent but no match for the 88. It's main weakness was armor. At the thickest point it was only 45mm. That makes for a light, manuverable tank but again, no match for the mighty 88mm main gun of most of the German tanks. Check out this link:

http://englishrussia.com/index.php/...ered-from-the-lake-after-50-years-been-there/

The Tiger had up to 120mm thick armor depending on where you hit them. They were big, heavy bastards. They were too heavy for most bridges and had to ford many rivers/streams using a snorkle aparatus that was dificult and time consuming to set up. They were underpowered and were easy to get stuck. Definitely open country vehicles.
These two are stuck and had to be blown up.
Tigers_In_A_Dale.jpg

This same batallioin lost 6 Tigers to mobility issues in 4 days. One fell into a cesspool, another through a bridge... Tigers were unable to cover even medium distances on their own with any kind of speed and relied on rail transport for the most part.

The 88mm main gun was a superb weapon. It really had no match at the time and was incredibly versitile.
