well im thinking about changing my fuel filter since its only 8 bucks because my trucks taking a while to start so im starting with the fuel system if anybody has any ideas what else it might be i would appreciate it. And i was also told there was a tank filter that i could clean by dropping my tank or is that if i dont have a fuel filter? And has anybody done this, how hard is it?

There is a filter sock over the end of the pickup on the fuel pump.

4.0 engine fuel pumps are known to have leak-back fuel into the tank problems. Try this, before starting turn the key to the RUN position to allow the pump to prime the system with fuel. Some guys turn the key on and then off after 3 seconds and then on again and then after 3 seconds turn the key to START. If this helps then the problem is the check ball inside the fuel pump. That ball is allowing fuel to escape backwards into the tank.
The fix is to replace the fuel pump.. Or simply do the same thing as needed.
