OK,Just got my first ranger yesterday.Came here for info as I like to know what I have. 1999 Ranger XLT 2 door super cab. 2wd. Bought it for on road use only (Hopefully thats where I'll keep it) I live in Hackettstown NJ and am 75 years old so take it easy. First thing I'm trying to find out is what the motor is. Its 6 cyl but thats all I know. Any suggestions? After a quick look,looks like a cardinal sin(Truck has a cap) Looking forward, Dave

Hey Dave - Welcome from another. I had a 4x2 like yours but had to trade for the same in a 4x4 because of the Winter and living out in the country. Your motor size is indicated by the eighth position of your VIN.
C - would be a 2.5 SOHC
U - would be a 3.0L gas engine
V - would be a 3.0L flex-fuel
X - would be a 4.0L
Don't worry about "mature", just had a thread looking for the oldest and he is 75 from PNW. You got me by 10 years so there are a few of us here. Enjoy your stay and ask away.
