Tailgate lock

Hello,
Just got a rollup bed cover and would like to make a lock for the tailgate now.
Has anybody made a simple one?
Dont want to spend $60 on a pop-a-lock

If the tonneau cover locks. Just make a dead bolt that latches from the inside of the tailgate where you have to unlock the tonneau to undo the bolt.

To be honest, 60 isn't to bad for a solution that doesn't look like it came from the Red Green show

Why lock a tailgate when all they have to do is take a knife to the roll up cover. Hard cover is a different story. Just sayin

Pilot,

I bought one for the Ranger, the company name is Locklover, it wasn't very expensive, nor was it the end all in security, however, it lasted 24 years and required a key to open the tail gate.

Sport Tracs have a locking tailgate but I don't know if the handle will swap to a Ranger.
