Okay guys, I have a question and the Ford Dealership here doesn't want to investigate. My 88' Ranger doesn't have functioning Tailgate Cables. They're split in half, looks like due to rusting out.

My Question is, could I use tailgate cables from a later year Ranger? 93-97 that are at the parts store, or do I Have to use the ones that go to my truck?

I'm kinda' weary about buying used from a junkyard.

Weary or leary?:) I bought my left side cable from a junkyard. It was missing when I bought the truck three years ago and the junkyard cable is still holding up. Or would that be holding down.......

LMC has them for $10 a side, $20 cheaper per side than a parts store that has to order them (around here they can get them but they don't stock them)

Last time i bought a tailgate cable it was $12 from the dealership. I guess it's been a while since i bought one.

Sure Mr. bed that was used from '93-'12, taunt us with your parts availability. :icon_twisted:
