Tailgate Bushing?

When oppening my tailgate the other day I noticed a piece of broken black plastic fall to the ground. Then when raising it back up I noticed that the hinge/pivot on the passanger side now has about 3/8 - 1/2" of slop. Obviously the piece of plastic was some kind of spacer/bushing. I cannot seem to find any details on this, not even on my Ford Factory CD manual. Does anyone know how to fix this, the name of the part and/or the part number(s) that I need.

Thanks,
Wes

My guess would be that it goes in the pivot down at the bottom of the tailgate. If I remeber right, if that bushing fell out, it would probably cause about that much slop too.

i say hit up the junkyard, i just noticed the pass side of my tailgate swung out a bit when closing, and saw the bushing thing was missing..

maybe take apart the other side and look for a part number on the part(s)?

Got it on eBay a few years ago for $0.99 plus shipping. It's the 1998 Ford Truck CD, an obvious copy, but I'm just using it for personal reference so if Ford wants to come after me for it they can. They can sue me, but all I have is my truck and they probably would not want it... It's a Ford!

I just checked on eBay and could not find one. I did however find an OBDII scanner and a chilton manual on CD all for about $50 shipped.

nice, I found a site where you could buy both the drivetrain and electrical books for like 125 used. CD would be way nicer though I'll have to keep my eyes peeled

Ya, the CD I have has everything... "Electrical and Vacuum Troubleshooting Manuals", "Service Manuals" and "Powertrain Control and Emission Diagnosis Manuals". If you had a 98 I would just mail you a copy. Keep checking on eBay.
