Had a vapour lock due to plugged vent, after resolving that I was able to bring the fluid level up to proper level. Although it was not driven a great deal with the condition, and having dropped the drive shaft for u joint inspection and lube, now there is a touch of leakage from the tailstock seal, survey says it will reseal with moisture and movement, or, the seal will need to be changed? If it needs to be changed in the end is it a simple matter to drop the shaft, tug out the old and press in the new without dropping the trans? thanks

She remains in wait for the next operation. Given no comment has been given I assume the replacement of this seal if required should be uneventful.

Id it 2x4 or 4x4? Bolt on yoke or slip yoke?

2wd with a slip yoke is easy to replace, you can pull the tail housing off if you want but there's really no need. Just carefully remove the old seal by pulling up on the steel lip with a chisel/screw driver and install the new one by gently tapping it in with a brass punch/hammer. Same as doing a wheel seal, there's no magic tricks.

Thanks, who is your jelly bean supplier by the way?

I've got dirt on the easter bunny... He keeps me supplied for my silence.
