hey guys a guy i kno a guy that wants to trade me his 01 trails for my 96 tails. i know mine are a 3 bulb an his are a 2 bulb.. my question is if i trade him my stock tails an harness would it be able to plug into his truck an vise versa? or any one know the easiest solution to get that to work...

basicaly i want to put a 2 bulb tail on my 3 bulb truck an he wants to put a 3 bulb tail on his 2 bulb truck..

If one has the amber flashers and the other has the completely red tails that use the same filament for brakes and flashers then the answer would be no. The curcuits are completely different, including how they work at the multi function switch. If you have the amber flashers and want to change to the all red tails, it is possible to make it work using a trailer converter but the other way is not feasable.

It's possible, but going from 2 bulbs to 3 will require a splice and dice on the wiring and new pigtails in the sockets or new sockets.

When I bought my carbon fiber tail lights, I wanted to use all three holes they came with, but, the 2000 model only has two lights. I used a light bulb socket/harness from a '96 ranger and spliced it in my harnes.

ya iam not to worried about splicing into the harness an what not...

wat i was going to do is send the harness with the pigtails an lights from the 96 an he was going to send me the harness an lights from his 01... i was hoping to just be able to plug an play with the main connector under neath.. if i cant swap the harnesses does any one know what would have to get spliced in?
