He should be getting a patent on that thing immediately! It's one of those things that could really take off if marketed correctly. Either that, or sell the design to a large manufacturer once you get it patented.

If he was going to try and market it, I would figure out how to make the legs fold in and out.

or maybe that can be a feature on the Tablegate Deluxe.

I like the idea in concept. Not great on keeping road spray out but if you are running an open bed, road spray isn't going to be a concern anyway.

Legs need to be adjustable but definitely an awesome idea. Maybe some spring buttons like on a pop up canopy or something. Put in on the market fast haha

I like the feedback. I've had most of those ideas. I also know a few other minor refinements that are needed.. But I wanted to get this finished in time for my trip this weekend. I may still try to apply for some kind of patent, at least for the concept.

I also want to keep the weight down. I haven't weighed this yet. But it feels about the same as my OEM tailgate. Adding those features means I need to maybe look at aluminum construction. I don't weld aluminum yet. There is also a bunch of research needed to adapt it to other size Ford trucks and then other brands of trucks.

It is working great on this trip and I'm proud of it. The volunteer staff camping area is way off to the side. So only a couple people have seen it. All positive comments so far.
