I have lined up a 90 mustang T5 transmission, One problem, one of the bolt hole that the bellhousing bolts on to is broken an missing the piece that broke off. will the remaining three be enough to hold it all together????? He want 50 buck for it. I thought if anything i could use the parts.:icon_confused:

Lemme ask you this: Do you think it'll hold up to multiple engine pulls, revs, launches and such without a problem? I don't think so.

It's important to keep all 4 there to maintain alignment of the transmission to the engine. You could have a shop weld up that area with multiple passes and drill a new hole(since the tranny is made of aluminum), otherwise, just use it for parts. Don't risk it.

The transmission keeps alignment through the hole in the bellhousing not the bolts. All the bolts do is simply hold it there. If he is just going to use it for a while then he should be OK, if he is going to pound on it then he will have problems. I'd buy it for 50 bucks and find another housing to transfer the internals over to.

Exactly. What I was getting at was it's a pretty critical part of the transmission and unless it's gonna be a once in a while, easy drivin' rig, then I wouldn't worry about it.

But, there's that corner that has no support, and that I don't like.

But for $50, that's still a heck of a deal. Even after another housing is found and transferred, you still have a heck of a good deal.:icon_thumby:

I just took 3 T5 housings to the scrapper on Thursday.
