I have a several mods to my 99 3.0 and i would like to go to a colder t-stat, it has a 197 degree in it now, would like to go a little colder. anybody know which one to get. part number would be nice.

Go to the parts store and ask for a 180* 'stat for a Ranger 3.0 and they'll fix you up. It's possible that a 180* 'stat won't be listed for later model Rangers, so you might have to ask for one from a late 90's model year, but it'll drop right in.

T-stat

They make a 180 stat for the rangers? never new that. hum

Why?

Why would you "like" to go colder? Is something happening that you think a colder ENGINE might fix?
That 17 degrees of coolant temperature makes a lot of difference to the running of the engine.. Even all the modern oil is built to expect a 197* temperature..
I wouldn't swap mine out for any reason..

Colder t-stats work great for people with pinging issues--which is why I installed one. Also some aftermarket tuners recommend a colder t-stat to allow for more aggressive engine timing/more aggressive tune.
