I have an 89 ranger with the 1350 BW transfer case. I broke the from shaft output yesterday out wheeling. I've been wanting to come up with a slip yoke eliminator, and now is the perfect time. To do it. My question is, does anyone know if the 1354 parts will fit in my case. This would be the easiest solution, otherwise I have some serious machine work to do.

I believe I saw ADSM08 do something like that. Try looking at his build threads..
 
I'll check it out thanks! But from what I've seen so far, I don't think what I want to do is possible. I think I am going to just have to find a 1354.
 
You need a whole 1354 and the front driveshaft to do what you want, along with the shifter linkage as it's different, but if you get all that it's a direct swap as I did that... if you were close I'd give you a good deal on the 1350M that I have in parts... :)
 
I have a 1350m at my dads already. That's the one I was going to modify. I'm looking for the 1354.
 
They're not too hard to find, I got one on turkey day for $75 with linkage
 
How much different is the linkage? I am in no way afraid to do some modification. I want to know so that ill be prepared in the case I can't get a good linkage.
 
I did nothing of the sort. I do however know about the linkage, since I just had one from each side by side a few weeks ago.

The linkage for the 1354 is pretty much straight. It runs in a straight line back from it's pivot to the lever on the case. The 1350 linkage dog-legs out away from the trans and case about halfway to the lever. I never tried to hole them up in a mix-n-match way, but I would try matching the linkage to the T-case rather than the trans. My reasoning is that on the 1350 the peg points out, away from the trans toward the frame, and on the 1354 the peg points towards the trans and away from the body. This is the ONLY reason I can see for the difference in the arms.
 
Having had my 1350 apart, I don't think I would bother with trying to make it a solid yoke instead of slip yoke, there's a silly U joint in the front output to aim the front output down a little more that isn't there on the 1354, that's why the 1354 front driveshaft has a dual carden joint in it since the front output points up a little in the truck.

I'm with adsm08 on the linkage, I tried to mix/match parts and think I just ended up with the linkage for a 1354 without making parts. In the course of two weekend my truck went from stock suspension and transfer case to 6" lift, explorer 8.8, Dana 35, manual 1354 and put in a centerforce clutch... we didn't need the more fabrication of a linkage :)
 
The1354 from what I've found is a better trans, plus with what happened to mine last weekend, I'm even more against putting another 1350 in. I don't like that design.
 
Yeah, the 1354 is better. Physically it isn't much different from the 1350, aside from the front output, but the internals are made out of sterner stuff.
