is there a difference between the t-case adapter from a c6 that was behind a 400m and a t-case adapter from a c6 that was behind a 351w?

I really doubt it but I have been wrong before.

thanks guys, this is why i ask. i have an old 1979 f150 that i am stripping and using the parts on my ranger, the f150 had a 400m and a c6 but some idiot ran the 400 with no oil and kaboom. i also have a 351w that needs to be rebuilt but it was out of a 2wd so it has no transfercase adapter on the tranny. what i was really wondering was could i use the adapter on the c6 which was from a 2wd. i know this might be a dumb question but i have very limited exprience with both automatic trannys and 4X4 trucks. thanks again for your help.

OK I see what you are asking. Yes there may be a difference between them. there is a difference in the output shaft of RBV transmissions for 4x4 and 4x2. I dont know about that specific transmission though.

do you want to use the tranny for 4x4 or 4x2?? either way why not just use the tranny that matches your app. or do the trannys have a different bell housing (i know they came with both a small and large bell housing) i would think the 400 and 351 would share the bolt patterns

i want to use the 351w and tranny. the bolt patterns on the bellhousing are different between the 400 and the 351 so i cant use the tranny that was behind the 400 with the 351. i'm gonna mess with them this weekend i gonna try to swap tailshafts and casing and see what happens and let you know.
