t-5 Trans not shifting

hey all, i recently threw my t5 back in the 84 302 ranger i have. But when i put the shifter on it, and it wont budge/shift. I read on a t5 service manual that i have that you have to install it in high(5th) gear. and I think i had it in 3rd when i installed it. Could this cause it to jam an not shift? I have everything torqued to the recommended specs too. when i had the trans together on the bench, i shifted it into all the gears an it was fine. So do I have to yank the trans back out and put it back in with it in high(5th) gear? Thanks in advance.

If it doesn't shift at all, then yes, it will have to come back out. Try taking off the shifter base and shift the block part with your finger. If it's still stuck, needs to come out.

yea, i took the cover off an tried with my finger, and it didnt budge. So yea ill have to yank it out again then . So ill put it in high gear an give er another shot
