I appreciate the advice fellas. Im starting to figure out what i want.

I think i'm going with either one of these for the mids:

That's cool. Any particular justifications for your selections?

WELL, polk audio will blow anything you listed out of the water. and its cheaper all together than those pioneers.

plus the specs on them are better. they just have a nice smooth crisp sound to them.

i picked out those kicker woofers for 2 reasons. 1- very inexpensive. 2- the best bang for the buck. yes there are better ones out there. and you could have two 10's instead of the 12's but i always recommend going 12's if you have the room.

and the amp will give those subs the perfect wattage they need.

and why the 6.5's in the front instead of 6x8's? better sound, less distortion. better sound stage.

and the 6x8's in the rear will give you the backup bass if you dont want to runs subs.

the biggest reason for the pols, look at the frequency response on both speakers.

20-20,000 is the ideal setup because this is the ranger of human hearing. the alpines are 67-27,000 which mean they will not have the best mid bass.

the pioneers arent bad at. 30-30,000 but where they lack is the sensitivity, 88db is a little low.

the polks are the best speaker for the money i think.

Thats cool man. I appreciate the explanation. I didn't realize the range on the speakers would make an audible difference.

Also. The material the twetter is madeof changes the sound. Silk dome tweeter have a nice rounded high, not so sharp.

^^x2, thats why i love the polks. they have a silk tweeter.

not like a pioneer or something that has a teteron tweeter. or infinty with there aluminum or tioxid tweeters.

I will definitely take the advice on the polk speakers, but why the subs? It seems to me that a person could have a much higher quality subs for just 30-50 bucks more. I'm also thinking hard about staying with one 10" sub. I listen to a lot of rock and metal with fast double bass drumming and i want to make sure the bass stays tight and doesn't get muddied up.

I was also wondering what the deal with shallow subs are? Is there an advantage to those?

shallow subs are for like standard cab truck, where space is at a minimal.

if you dont need em, i wouldnt use em. better bass out of standard subs.

What does the square sub do that a round one doesn't?

if you havent heard an l7 sub, you havent lived.

its one of the hardest hitting. deepest. clearest sound soubs you will every hear.

i prefer a round sub. but this is the best you could do for that price.

that sub will rock your freaking world lol
