Synthetic ATF Mercon V instead of plain Mercon -your opinion?

What is your opinion about Mobil 1 synthetic instead of synthetic blend ATF ?

What do you recommend iinstead of plain Mercon:

It follows set shift line pressure, shift schedule, cold temp shift characteristics, TC clutch lockup, TC unlock/lock schedule, etc... that is set in the PCM. Once you reach a certain throttle position and vehicle speed, it shifts/locks/unlocks TC as necessary based on sensor input.

4R100s cannot use Mercon-V because the friction modifiers cause the TC clutches to fail. Synthetic Mercon can be used in the 4R100. The PTO part of the 4R100 is what "adapts"... there's no such option for the CD4E.

What kind of transmission do you have? If it's a 4r44e or a 5r55e, you have to use Mercon V in it, not regular Mercon. If it's an M5OD, you can use Mercon V, but some people here report shifting problems with it and prefer regular Mercon. A4LD's I believe can take either. IMO, synthetics are pretty much always better and it's never a bad thing to use them. Choose whichever brand you want and run it.

i use the mobil 1 stuff in my manual transmission... it pretty much eliminated the 2-3 shift grinding that would sometimes happen

It would help to know the info on your vehicle and what transmission it has. I personally run mobil 1 synthetic fluids in my vehicles, including the Synthetic Mercon V in the M5OD. No problems shifting at all..

Almost a year ago I swapped the M5OD in my Ranger and filled it with Mobil 1 Synthetic Mercon V which was like $7 a quart i believe. I haven't had any problems with it so far.

I run regular Mercon in my M5OD and BW1354. No problems whatsoever.
