ok guys i have a 2001 ranger 4x4 thats electric shift. i found a bw 1354 in a 91-92 ranger thats a manual shift aside from swaping shafts (i know i gotta do that) will it bolt to my transmission and how can i convert my truck to the new transfer case so i get the dash lights to light up when i shift into 4wd? i can easily swap in another electric shift but the manual one sounds oh so nice

Yes, the case will bolt up. You will need the shifter linkages from an automatic truck with a 1354 manual case.

The wiring is something you will have to trace down with a wiring diagram.

wiring diagrams man i hate the sound of that plug and play thats more my forte any body done this swap before?

I did it on my 1989. Fortunately the wiring was already in place for a manual shift case and all I had to do was tap into it. It may be the same way with the newer trucks, but I am not sure since most came with electric shift.

i figure the wires for the electric shift are useless i just need to figure out what wires let the truck know to light up the dash lights when it engages. it dont really matter the truck will drive just fine of course its more of a hey mike your an idiot go to 2wd alarm

i changed to a manual t-case about 5 years ago. ive got the pigtail for the manual t-case, i just havnt managed to "get around" to installing it.

maybe one of these days....:D

manual shifts

so wicked your opinion counts... trash the electric shift and bolt in the manual shift and just say to hell with the lights? im tired of driving a one tire fryer id rather be a 2 wheel wonder again.....

get the case switched over to a manual case. you can worry about the lights later if you really want them. its not like you need the lights...the shift lever tells you what range your in. but its nice to have everything hooked up properly (i will get mine hooked up some day).

sorry to jack the thread but i thought the drive shafts were the same?????

later model 1354's (i believe 98+...somewhere around there anyway) use a CV style front output, thus they take a different driveshaft than the one using a double cardan joint in '97 and down cases.

Yep, on 1998 and newer Rangers and 1995-up explorers use a strange CV style output for the front shaft.

sorry i am not trying to jack to thread either but what if you have the superlift front drive shaft will it bolt up to it

i didnt know superlift made drivelines.

at any rate, that driveline will only be a longer version of the stock driveline. you'll still have to have the appropriate transfer case output to bolt to your driveline.

No it wont bolt up. The superlift front shaft is for 98+ ranger 1354's only.
