i have a 2.0 that is toast.... and i can get a 2.3 but its fuel injected.
i dont know how much work is invloved as far as wiring to run this motor.
any advice would be helpful....
Thanks

can you get just the engine or the entire truck???? You will need all the wiring, the ECM, the gas tank with pump(or buy an in frame pump and keep your original thank).....Maybe more

You can also just use the same setup on the 2.3...if there is no slot for a manual fuel pump you can add a low-pressure electric pump for about $35,,,

But if you want to go FI and have a complete doner truck then it's not really that hard...but as mudnsnow stated, you will need to change everything and maybe even the fuel tank...staying with a carb is much easier...

Here's what I did to my 88 2.3 that was missing alot of the F.I. when I got it (some of the earlier F.I. engines has a block off plate on the block to cover the mechanical fuel pump provision), I took an old 2.3 oval port intake cleaned and filled about 5/16" or so of the bottom of the intake with epoxy and port matched it, the early 2.3 intake has the 2 barrel holley carb bolt pattern on it I used on of those 1" insulating spaces between the intake and carb so it would seal it up better, get a reman 350cfm holley 2barrel carb and bolted it on, unplugged and removed the high pressure fuel pump thats mounted in-line on the frame and used another F.I. fuel filter to reconnect the fuel line back together (my truck has a low pressure electric fuel pump in the tank), installed a mallory fuel pressure regulator with a pressure guage about 16" before the carb, fabbed a little bracket for the throttle cable to hook to the intake manifold. Since the computer and most of it's wiring was removed I had to find a wire that was hot with the ignition on and while cranking, and wired it to plug that goes to the intank fuel pump, I also changed the ignition over to the duraspark, got the wiring harness for it at a junk yard, then used the same hot wire for the fuel pump to power the ignition module. I get 22mpg in the city, 26mpg on the hwy at 65mph (my truck has a manual trans). I'll post a picture later on today of my carb setup.
To make the swap alot easier Esslinger has an adaptor to put a holley 2 barrel on a lower square flange F.I. intake, the F.I. intake bottom will perform alot better than my poormans early 2.3 intake.

I'd like to see the pics if you've got them...been thinking of changing my current carb and intake since it tends to flood after a while on the highway...not sure what all the sensors and crap on the thing did or do, but they may be part of the reason why it doesn't run right (sometimes)...trying to post a link to my current carb setup...
