I have looked at a few things on the internet and found this ne truck with a 5.0 with a gt-40 kit. I plan on doing that maybe i know i will do the 5.0 first. He also had a F-150 tranny and a F-150 transfer case. SWEET. He had custom build traction bars and a solid axle up front. I want to do all that he has and more. I will start soon but first i need to find a 5.0. I will put pics up on here as i go.

engine fit just fine, the trany and T-case are a bit tight, had to notch the frame

but it will go it there right what kind of engine is it i know it is a 5.0 but what vehicle did it come from

ya, it fit, after cutting the frame a bit, trany and t case are from a late 80's f seriese truck

get it from what ever you want. The blocks are the same. Emissions laws and ease of install are a few issues with picking an engine, my new engine is a crate 302 for a mustang.

does anybody have pix of the frame notching process ? I too will be using a c-6 and a full size 1356 . how much frame needs to be cut out .....and are you guys reinforcing it at all ? im just a little concerned with the frame being weaker at that section, my 357 isn't too RAD but will have tons more torque than my gutless 2.9.

Jammons,
If this is going into your '98' 4x4 , yes you are best off going with an explorer motor and all the wiring and computer. How wild are you going with the motor build? Are you going with an auto or manual trans? The '98' and later years are about 1 1/2" wider in the frame at where the transfer case would be. I guess it all depends on what your truck to end up being/what kind of use for it.
