The answer is always NO, if you don't ask!
Hello,

I have been reading and re-reading the 5.0 explorer swap page in the tech library. I am following all of the advice for the swap, just ordered the remote oil filter kit today.

In all of my reading I have never seen a mention of the lower radiator hose to use after removing the ford original oil filter adapter with the cooler.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Deankelly

Use a 99 explorer 5.0 lower, the 99-01 didn't have an oil cooler...

what are you planning to use for a transfer case? if you are doing this on a 96 read ranger svt's build thread. i dont think its in the tech library but has a huge amount of good info on the swap into a gen 3 ranger

Hello again all.

I have come up with a few more questions.

I have recently been to the salvage yard and picked up a radiator, condensor, and a fan shroud from a 98 Exp 4.0.

1. Will I have to make a lot of modifications to get this all to fit in my 96 Ranger?

2. Will they work at all or do I need parts from a 5.0?

3. Where do you recommend to mount the remote oil filter adapter to the truck?

Thanks.

NEED HELP!

I don't know if this has been asked before. I am using the advance adapters kit to relocate the 5.0 I am putting in my 96 Ranger. I don't like the price of their motor mounts.

Will the mounts for a 96 F-150, 5.0 work in this case?

Thanks!

i don't know if this helps, but when I got mine afew hears back I got them at auto zone for about 10$ each. both sides the same cann't remember what they fit but 2 bolts hold them to the block and 1 stud at the bottom in the center. get the handy pack surrated lock nuts, Ithink 1/2 -18 .not enouth room or bolt for flats and lock warshes or nylon lock nuts . Seams that they where for a truck though.

This is the plats bolted in http://carphotos2.cardomain.com/images/0016/88/70/16038807_large.jpg?v=1

This is the best I have of the Mounts http://carphotos.cardomain.com/images/0016/79/58/16039785_large.jpg?v=1

The 5.0 radiator is basically the same but is twice as thick, I would go ahead and get a 5.0 radiator especially since it drops in.

I forget if it is the older or the newer but they did make 5.0 Explorers without the cooler, with the Explorer front accessory drive in place and the Explorer radiator it should fit perfect (depending on engine placement)

Thanks for the help!

I am still not sure about the radiator, it seems to be about 6 inches wider than the stock one in my 4-banger, wider not thicker.

Thanks!

Use the stock 96 4.0 auto radiator and condensor if keeping ac. Use the stock 4.0 rubber motor mounts and use plates bolted to the block. I can fab you a set if your interested (I have Fabbed several sets for other members and they love em). Like stated before, read SVT's build thread, first post. It will answer most if not all your questions...
