What would be the best axle to swap into my ranger, I want to put a straight axle and convert it to 4by, but Idk what kind of axle to swap in

This is not an immediate project, I'm just stockpiling information for the future when I have the money

Well do you want high strength, or just a half decent axle?

The Early Bronco D-44 is close to the right width, and plenty strong for most people.

The Jeep D-30 is a popular choice for people who just want a straight axle, but the more extreme 4x4 guys tend to find it a bit weak.

Go big or go home, if you can find tons then do it. Depending on your local laws they may not allow tires to stick out past the fenders though.

Sent from the road while ignoring traffic

I was thinking something like a dana 44 but I want it to sit wide, so that when I lift it it retains its center of balance, and so I would be able to put 12.5 inch wide tires, and I want the back to match width wise

I don't care about local laws, I wad gonna custom make my own flares for the fenders

'78 or '79 F-150/Bronco Dana44.
