First I want to say that the forums and tech pages have been great for most all of my questions for installing parts and making repairs. Saved me a lot of $. The dash in my 90 has been butchered and rewired by somebody that should not have been in there plus it is cracked. I would like to install my 89 dash, plug it in and go. the 90 was built march of 1990. supercab 4x4 2.9 5speed. The donor 89 was built march of 1989. supercab 4x4 2.9 5 speed. The only differences are the 90 was electric shift, but I already put a manual 1350 in the 90. And the 89 had cruise control and tilt, I already swapped the steering column and the rest of the cruise parts into the 90. Will the wires in the main plug in the firewall match up and do I need to change the computer. I have both dashes out and they look identical in appearance and the switches and guages all look the same. I did some comparing of wire colors and locations on the main plug that goes to the firewall and did find a couple that were different. Any help would be great.

it should be a plug and play swap. both trucks are 2nd gen so it should be simple

Thanks for the reply. I will get it put together this weekend and let everyone know how it works after the smoke clears. It looks like it should work.

I made the swap of the dashes.Everything worked except the ground wire for the blower fan did not mate with the correct wire going through the firewall. As a bonus all the plugs for my cruise control swap were already in the truck. It was an easy swap. Thanks for the tech pages and other threads, they were a great help.
