As the title states I am swaping a fuel injected 2.3 from a 91 mustang into my 85 Carbed 2.3l. I have been reading and was wondering is there any other majior things that I should worry about besides the fuel pump issue? I know the wiring harness, computer needs to be swapped. Is there any tip's or trick's? All comments will help no matter what. Thanks

I haven't done the swap myself...but as long as you can use all the parts from the 91 without extending the wires you should be OK...

You had the 2.0 block and a 2.3 head so it's similar to what I had...except I kept the carb setup until the head cracked...now I have a 2.3 Ranger block with an 89 Mustang Head...still carbed...

I'd say you're good to go...but keep us posted if you can...maybe someone will chip in if you have any problems...

Don't you need to redo the whole fuel system, like using the lines from your donor vehicle?

Typically, because the FI system requires both a feedback line and a pump in the tank (on older systems), you need to swap everything out...there is a high pressure pump on the newer rangers that does away with the low pressure pump in the fuel tank...but depending on how you do it really...

That's one of the reasons I backed off...my truck HAD everything in place for FI with the 2.9...but I wanted the carb so I pulled it alll out...is there a smiley of someone kicking themselves in the butt???

Anyways, I'm happier with the carb...

After some investigating on the donor truck which is a 91 2wd with a short box (6'). The gas tank on it is from an extended cab and does not fit the truck right, so I figure the tank will fit my truck fine because I have an 8' box.
From what I can tell is, the only thing mounted on the frame rail between the tank and engine fuel rail is the filter. I don't see an external pump anywhere. Unless I freckin blind. Does that mean that I can use the tank, filter, and lines up to the fuel rail, and be good to go?
Does any body know if I have to change the gauge clusters, and the chassis wiring harness ( Lights front and rear) , to make this swap work? I have a 3 gauge cluster ( OIL/COOLANT/AMP ) that I want to install. I would think that should eliminate the cluster swap.
I got some pic's to post but I don't know how to. I can't add attachment's, nothing.
I would like to share too.

I can't help you with your tech questions but to post pictures, upload them to imageshack.us and then copy and paste the line that says 'hotlink to forums' into your message here on the forums

Some Pic's

I hope this works............ if it does thanks!!!!!!!
