Suspension question.

I'm new here, and new to Rangers and was wondering if some experts could ID what type of suspension I have. My truck is a '98 XLT 4x4 that I bought from the original owner. He did not modify the truck at all. The truck sits very high in the rear, and I was thinking of doing the front torsion bar mod (cranking the adjustment screws) to level it out some. While poking around under the truck I noticed that there are 2" spacers between the axle tube and the rear springs. Are these spacers part of some specific suspension? Would it be possible to remove these to drop the rear end down? I don't see how these would effect either the ride or handling (the truck also has a rear sway bar FWIW). Am I missing something here? Any advice would be appreciated.

Those spacers (blocks) are factory, and have the arm on them for the bumpstop to make contact.

If you remove them, you might need to get shorter shocks for the rear, but not sure.

I would just turn up the torsion bars an inch or two.

Yup, they are a stock 4x4 block in the back with an integrated bump stop cast into them. X2 for cranking the tbars up about 1.5". You will need an alignment afterwards.

Thanks guys, I see what you mean about the bump stops now. Looks like I'll lift the front instead.
