Superlift quality question

After reading the FAQ's for suspensions, I find that:

1) the only option I have for lifting my 02 Edge is a superlift kit w/o spending big $$$.

and

2) the con list for the Superlift kit would imply that the quality is not the best, but the FAQ's were started in 2007.

so the question is, has quality improved?

Welcome to TRS

The Superlift kits for your model truck are not really all that bad, though they are pretty basic (doesn't really improve suspension travel at all, and the lowered torsion bar crossmember still robs you of clearance). Superlift gives you full new steering knuckles (keeping the steering setup itself stock) which wasn't the case with previous kits that existed such as Trailmaster.

Superlift kits for the earlier TTB trucks however have long been plagued with issues.

So is there any way to make up for the clearance? sorry if the question is foolish, I have never lifted a truck before, always managed to find em lifted already

You could swap the torsion bars out for coilover shocks... (another previously available kit that did just this was RCD (Race-Car-Dynamics IIRC). Some reinforcement of the shock mounts is needed since it they will be supporting the weight of the truck.

I'm not familiar with what size shocks and springs you need, but I seem to recall a past thread or two on this.

Edit:
Here's a thread from another site that is likely to have some pt#s & info on such a conversion.
(it's a long read, I didn't read it all the way to the end)

Unfortunately there no longer is a bolt-on option to eliminate the torsion bars. If you're not comfortable with this level of fabricating, maybe with some luck you might be able to find a used RCD suspension lift.

He summed it up. Really a superlift is a quality lift for what it is.
