Super Mild '90 Ranger

I agree with Slo-Vo.

Good work man!
:icon_welder:

Thanks. Never in a million years did I think I would be doing any sort of body work. It just got to the point that I didn't want it to deteriorate any further and I had time on my hands because I haven't found that Explorer 8.8 axle that I've been looking for at a good price.

I do think this is a good option and I might do this. Even if I end up not liking it I can just continue it on to the rest of the body.

The only concern yet is the hood and the roof. The hood is peeling and starting to rust on the edges. And the roof paint is getting pretty thin, I already primered a small area that bare metal was showing.

you could do like my old 86 ranger...except the reverse...i left the factory paint top and bottom and painted the center

you could leave the center factory paint and bed line the top and bottom or bedline the bottom and primer the top

Thanks for the input.

I love the exhaust, it's baddass!

I'm going to have to do some more thinking on this, probably don't have time to do it anytime soon anyway.

damn....maybe i will send my truck out to you:icon_surprised:

if i was in your shoes with that truck I'd bed liner the whole truck?

Always accepting new customers :icon_twisted:. But gotta see a picture of it first! Get a camera and figure out how to easily post pictures yet?

Recommendation noted. Although if I did this I think I would use a less rough bedliner, such as the Duplicolor stuff. That Herculiner could cause injuries just brushing your arm against it!

nice work on ifin those patches man.
im really impressed. thats some good skills imo.

and nice rims u got there.

can i suggest a paint scheme? why not do it like 84 stealth ranger did. lower half in bed liner and upper half normal paint.
he did his red/black. u could do yours blue/black.
that would be cool imo.

Thanks for the compliments. But I'm not really that good at body work, I've got a lot to learn if it's something I want to continue to do.

All suggestions are welcome. How far up did 84 stealth ranger go with the bedliner? Up to the first body line? Or truly half way up so that the split is not on body line at all (my Explorer is somewhat like this)?

Ah, I see what you're talking about now. His truck looks pretty good like that!

Damn, I slipped to the 13th page!:icon_twisted:

Well, I haven't done any more paint yet, maybe come springtime when it's warmer. But, I have swapped out my 1354e tcase for a 1354m case that I bought from a TRS member. It works, but I haven't had much of a chance to use it yet.

I had just finished putting my truck back together after installing the 1354m and I went out to test that the Tcase worked and my throttle stuck wide open! My slave cylinder stopped working and my clutch got shredded! Although, both have been on thin ice for some time.

So out comes the Tcase, again, and tranny to replace the clutch and slave. I took the time to upgrade to a Luk 10" clutch for a 4.0. I have to say, it's an awesome upgrade, I only have a couple hundred miles on it but it feels really good so far.

While taking the transmission out I decided to lift the cab rather than remove the exhaust, as I knew that the exhaust connections were so rusty that they'd never go back together after being removed. Removing the rear cab mounts proved tricky, as they had rusted away so much that the new Daystar mounts I've had layin around waiting to go in wouldn't sit on top without falling through. So out comes the welder to put some new material on top of the cab mounts. I ended up finding huge washers that fit perfectly on top of the cab mounts and had a hole large enough for the body bushing to sit properly. I welded those on top since the rest of the body mount wasn't rusted very badly, just the top part.

I also replaced the shift bushings. Also feels much better. You have no idea how loose it is until you try a tight one.

Rear main seal also got replaced while I was in there.

It's nice to have my Ranger back after sitting for a few months in the garage, I just didn't have the time to fix it with how busy I've been with work.

Since everyone likes pictures, here's the Luk clutch I put in.

Here's the one it replaced:

It looks like it was a good time to change my clutch.
