Been looking at lots and lots of for sale Rangers on FB, Craigslist, various auction sites. Been noticing that there are many more super cab Rangers than regular cab. Got me to wondering what is the ratio of super cabs to regular cabs? Which is most plentiful? Personally, I think super cab outnumber regular cabs 2:1 or even 3:1. Any idea on this ratio or production numbers?

No idea of the real number...

But being a big guy... I sure like the extra room in a super cab Ranger.

Even picked more on the new generation Ranger is a true four door. Enough so that they don't even offer a super cab in the 7th Gen trucks.

That upsets me a bit.

It would be pretty easy to dig up the info (might have to pay for it)... that sticker that is on every new car is a "monroney" sticker - back in the way back days dealers were even worse cheats and eventually the senate got involved and forced em to put a sticker on with the info in a standardized way..... (The bill was introduced or sponsored or something by a guy named Monroney - hence the name) Anyhow Ford sold off the reprint rights to a place that started https://monroneylabels.com/ They have statistics on how many are 6' bed, how many are 7' bed etc etc... so if you buy a sticker from em you can get all the "yours is 1 of only 83,000 extend cabs for model year 199x".

The old classic mustang guys are all over it like flies on stink... .The old 1948-56 guys predate the stickers so we don't have that obsession.
in the more modern F- series world they have websites dedicated to it: https://www.fordification.com/tech/marti.htm

All that aside I would say 7' beds are most common on 1st and 2nd gen, and each year you can see less and less of em, and more and more extend cabs. Ford's aiming at the target they think is what people want.

I agree that over the model years beds got shorter and cabs got longer.

But back in the day, a pickup truck was measured by if it could carry a 4x8 sheet of plywood. Today, what's plywood?

have you been to the lumber store lately - they shrinkflated plywood even, it's not even 4x8.

No idea what the exact ratio is. I do know that I’m more comfortable in an extended cab for the Ranger so that’s what I collect. I really wish they would have offered a 4-door with a 6’ bed and a 2.3 turbo diesel or the like.

I didn't go in and look, but it was like 16" shorter on both width and length - 3 or 4 pallets outside of the homedepot covered with a tarp and big sign. Thought maybe I would find it on homedespot.com but when I pulled up the site all the sheet goods listed are still 4x8. I about crapped my pants cause it wasn't like densboard or something that is already goofball size, it was regular OSB sheeting and they were asking like $11/sheet. I haven't bought lumber since before covid and I heard it was insane, but that blew me away. I bet it doesn't sell fast and next time I go to town I can get a pic.

Sounds like a reduce price by reducing size. May or may not work out. Personally I prefer to work with the biggest pieces I can get doing construction. Especially drywall. If I can get 12’ long sheets into where I need it and I need that length, by golly we are wrestling them bad boys in there. Did that too on the second story of my one buddy’s Cape Cod style house. We tore out a wall and railing to do it (that stuff needed to come out anyway for the remodel) and just built it back after getting it in the room.

The 4 door style is ok if you want 2 more rattles.
