Sunday Mountain Pics. (Three New Pics)

Me and a couple friends took advantage of the break in the weather sunday to head up into the Gifford Pinchot National forest to scout out the roads to make sure they didn't wash away with the heavy storms last december and to see how far down the snow line still is for camping purposes. Unfortunately the snow was a little lower than we hoped for because of the wet winter, a couple years ago we could go much higher before memorial day without seeing snow. This wasn't a wheelin trip so I was rockin my 31s, no sense in puttin a bunch of miles on my swampers without wheelin. Front locker worked awesome in the couple spots where I needed 4x4.

Looks like you had a blast. One of these days I'm gonna have to come up and wheel with you guys(or if your ever in my rock garden).......

isen't there a story about some old timer who refused to evacuate when she blew?
i had family there when it went up but oregons as far north as i've been.

when are you going to sawzall- i mean clearance your truck for the swampers?i'm going to finish up making room for my new-to-me boggers this afternoon.33x14's cut a wide swath haha, why get tires to fit your truck if you can fit the truck to the tires?

Here's a few more pics. This is House Rock shelter, about a 20 minute drive from the gravel pit I took the first pictures at and then a 15 minute hike. It's perched atop a 100 foot cliff, overlooking the forest and Mt St Helens. Unfortunately I forgot my camera at my rig so I used my cell phone.
Here's the shelter.

The mountain, unfortunatly you can only make out the base, my phone made it blend in with the sky, but you get an idea how spectacular the view is.

Here's a view looking over the edge, you can see the tops of very tall fir trees.

Ah, I love living here!!!

I have a view of Mt. Rainier from my house!

I haven't been to St. Helens though..

Has St. Helens finally settled down, or has the news just gotten tired of covering the whole thing? I know for a couple years there is was spitting out steam/ lava into the crater.
